"OPSSesja" (OPSSession) - the Polish Online Programming Championships
The Championships in Computer Programming, called OPSSession (OPSS – Online Problems Solving Systems) are organized since 2005. They attract an increasing number of enthusiasts of algorithms and programming.
The competition takes place twice a year (spring and autumn) and is open ended. Everyone can take a part in it, regardless the age and occupation. The task for the participants is to write the solutions, using software languages (C + +, Turbo Pascal, etc.).
The championships are aimed at the promotion of the idea of programming. The competition is an opportunity to demonstrate and improve skills in solving the algorithmic problems and enjoy great intellectual fun in the same time.
The project attracts a lot of young people from all over Poland. Indifferently, more than a thousand people takes a part in it - mainly schoolchildren and students. The growing popularity of the championships caused that in the autumn of 2006, the competition for the first time gained the name of the of Polish Online Programming Championships.
In 2008 in the third edition of Polish Online Programming Championships attracted 1794 participants, who delivered to the evaluation more than 14 thousand solutions. Year to year, due to the open nature of the completion and the lack of age and geographical restrictions, the number of participants continues to grow - says Maciej Maniecki, Vice-President of Asseco Business Solutions.
